This was a CCTV and alarm installation for a newly opened mechanical workshop in Bibra Lake. I put in four Dahua cameras and an Ajax alarm. As with all my job write-ups, I don’t publish the business name, the address or anything else that identifies the property.

Four Dahua 6MP cameras

Four cameras on a four-channel recorder, so every channel is used and there is a 4TB drive to record to.

Dahua camera mounted in an interior corner

The TiOC 3 Pro watches the doors

For a workshop, the doors are where it matters, so the TiOC 3 Pro overlooks the main entry door and the roller door. I set tripwire and intrusion zones across both and turned notifications on. The rules are scheduled to arm overnight and over the weekend, when nobody should be there, so it isn’t going off during the working day. If someone crosses a line or enters a zone, the camera’s active deterrence (warning light and siren) kicks in and a notification goes to the phone.

Neat cabinet, easy to service

The NVR is in a 6RU wall-mounted cabinet with a patch panel. Every camera cable ends on a numbered port, which makes the system easy to trace and service later. The Ajax hub is mounted on the wall beside it.

Ajax alarm with a backup 4G SIM

The backup SIM means the alarm can still report if the workshop’s internet connection goes down. Why that matters is explained in what happens when the power or internet goes out. The job ran over two days: about three hours on the alarm and nine on the cameras.

Security for a new workshop or business

If you are setting up a workshop, shop or office in Perth, see CCTV installation in Perth, Ajax alarm systems and business alarm and CCTV. I also replaced an old commercial alarm panel with Ajax Superior at another Bibra Lake business, and you can read why I pair Ajax alarms with Dahua cameras.
