A wireless alarm you own outright. No monthly fees, no contract, and full control from your phone. Installed across Perth by an Ajax Authorised Partner, with packages from $1,280.
Why Ajax
Ajax isn't a rebranded off-the-shelf alarm. Dejan was sceptical at first: his question to the wholesaler was "where's the keypad?" Then he tested a system on a friend's house, dropped the Bosch Solution 6000 that had been his favourite panel, and has installed Ajax ever since.
Ajax uses its own Jeweller radio on encrypted 868 MHz, a band set aside for security and not shared with household Wi-Fi. The hub detects jamming, spoofing and tampering and alerts you straight away.
The Ajax app (iOS & Android) gives you complete control from anywhere in the world. Arm, disarm, check sensor status, view event history, and receive instant push notifications when anything happens on your property. See the app →
A typical wireless Ajax alarm goes in in about half a day. No cables chased into walls, no plaster to make good afterwards, and the whole thing can be taken off again without a trace, which suits rentals and heritage homes. The wired Superior line does need cable, and that is quoted after a site visit.
Ajax rates its motion detectors at up to 5 years and its door sensors at up to 7 years on one battery, and the app shows each battery's level.
The hub connects by Ethernet and can take a SIM card as backup. If the internet goes down, or someone cuts the router, it switches to the mobile network and keeps talking to your phone.
Start small and add devices later. Hub 2 takes up to 100 devices and Hub 2 Plus up to 200, from a studio apartment to a large commercial site, all in the same app.
What We Install
Dextel is certified to install both Ajax lines, Superior and Baseline, so you get the one that suits your property and budget rather than whatever is on the shelf.
Ajax's flagship professional-grade line. Combines wired and wireless devices into a single system, with expanded capacity, advanced automation, and the highest level of security certification.
The complete wireless-only Ajax experience. The same Ajax app and cloud, in a streamlined range designed for straightforward residential and small business installs.
Buying Ajax
Ajax is a trade product in Australia. There is no Ajax shop, you cannot buy from Ajax directly, and the brand reaches the country through trade distributors who supply accredited installers and the security trade rather than the public. That is why this question is harder to answer than it looks, and why the search results for it are not much help.
In practice, here in Perth: the distributors require a trade account, the general electronics retailers do not carry the brand at all, and a small number of specialist security retailers interstate will sell you some Ajax hardware online. Local listings are worth treating with care, because at least one Perth supplier still shown by Google as selling Ajax has not stocked it for some time.
The useful distinction is between buying hardware and buying a system that works. A box of Ajax devices is not a security system until someone has decided where each detector goes, set the zones and sensitivities, commissioned the hub, tested it and handed it over on your phone. Detector placement in particular is what decides whether an alarm catches an intruder or cries wolf at your dog. Bought as a supply-and-install job, that work is included and the warranty is one conversation rather than yours to chase.
The two Ajax lines are not equally open. Adding Superior equipment to a system requires an installer holding current Superior accreditation from Ajax. Owning the device is not enough to commission it, and no amount of shopping around changes that.
Dejan holds Superior accreditation for both Fibra and Jeweller, which is what makes wired Superior systems, commercial sites and retrofits onto old panels possible. Only a handful of Ajax partners in Western Australia hold it.
No contract either way: an Ajax system installed by Dextel is yours outright. There is no monitoring contract, no subscription for the app, and nothing tying you to us afterwards. If you move, most of a Baseline system comes with you.
Installed Ajax Packages
These packages give a clear starting point. Each price is supply and install: the equipment listed, fitted, set up, tested and handed over with the Ajax app on your phone. The system can be adjusted once we've seen the property.
A compact starting system for apartments, units and smaller properties.
Sized for a small two-bedroom house: the main entry and the living and dining area covered.
A more complete home system with audible internal and external deterrence.
Need more detectors, another siren or a keypad? See the extras price list →
Package pricing is for standard Perth metro installations. Final scope may vary with the property layout, access, device locations, existing equipment, cellular backup requirements and any additional devices requested.
Rebates: WA Seniors Card holders can claim up to $400 per household on alarm, CCTV and smoke alarm work through the state Safety and Security Rebate, which runs all year. Some Perth councils run their own security rebates as well, on an annual budget that closes when it is spent, so check your own council’s page before buying. The rebates guide →
Connectivity: these packages are priced with the standard Ajax Hub 2, which connects by wired Ethernet with mobile (SIM) backup. It has no Wi-Fi. In practice the hub needs to sit within reach of your router, or have a cable run to it, and we confirm a workable position when quoting. This matters most in double-storey homes, where there is often no data point on the floor you want the hub on and no simple path to run one between levels. An active connection is needed for remote Ajax app control and user notifications; the alarm and sirens still operate locally if it drops, and cellular backup through the hub’s SIM can be configured where required. Where a wired run isn’t practical, the Ajax Hub 2 Plus supports Wi-Fi as well, for $150 more on any of the packages above.
Deposits: service work under $1,000 carries no deposit. Quoted work above that takes a 20% deposit on acceptance, as set out in our terms →

Package Extras
Added to any alarm package on request. Prices include GST, the device, mounting, pairing and testing. Any other Ajax device is quoted to suit your property.
Your price is confirmed in a written quote before anything is booked. A wireless system can usually be quoted without a site visit; wired systems and upgrades of existing alarms get a free site visit first.
Every other Ajax device (for example range extenders, the Transmitter module used to bring a wired contact such as a shed roller door into the system, and garage or gate control), commercial sites, wired Ajax (Fibra) systems, upgrades of existing non-Ajax alarms, and properties that need range extenders or cabling to reach the hub.
See clause 29.8 of our terms for how published prices work.
Build It Yourself
Ajax hosts a system configurator under our name. Pick your own hub, sensors and keypads from the full Ajax range, then send the kit to us to quote and install. Free to use, no account, no obligation.
The Ajax Ecosystem
Every Ajax device talks on the same encrypted radio, so they work as one system rather than a collection of separate gadgets.
Pet-immune PIR detectors for indoor and outdoor use. Detect movement across multiple zones with configurable sensitivity.
Magnetic contact sensors for all entry points. Instant alert on opening with tamper detection and 7-year battery.
Weatherproof sirens with built-in strobes. Deter intruders before they enter and alert neighbours immediately on alarm.
Arm and disarm with PIN codes or key fobs. Multiple user codes with individual access logs viewable in the app.
Connect Ajax cameras and most third-party IP cameras over RTSP, and view live footage in the Ajax app. Playing back recordings in the app needs an Ajax NVR with a drive fitted. Footage on another brand's NVR stays in that brand's app. Keep your cameras and add the Ajax AI recorder →
Interconnected smoke detectors that trigger all sirens simultaneously and send push alerts before you smell anything.
Detect leaks under sinks, near hot water systems, or around appliances. Catch a leak before it becomes a flood.
Discreet wireless panic buttons for personal protection. Wall-mounted or portable, with a silent or audible alert.
On Your Phone
The app opens on the control screen, and the day to day of owning an alarm is one tap on it. Red means the system is armed, green means it is disarmed, and the status sits under the property name, so a glance tells you where things stand. Night mode and a panic button are on the same panel. Everyone you give access to gets this same screen on their own phone.

Choose the Right Upgrade Path
An Ajax system is not always a complete rip-out. During the assessment, we check whether existing wired perimeter devices are compatible and worth retaining, then design the balance of new and existing equipment around the property.
For homes, apartments and small businesses without a useful existing alarm. We design coverage around entry points, daily routines, pets and the areas you actually want protected.
Compatible reed switches and vibration sensors may be retained through an Ajax MultiTransmitter, while the old panel is replaced with modern Ajax control, notifications and new devices where needed.
How wired-alarm retrofits work →For commercial premises needing a higher-grade upgrade path. Our Bibra Lake project retained compatible existing contacts through an Ajax Superior MultiTransmitter and added new detection, keypad and sirens.
Read the Bibra Lake write-up →Recent work includes a Ness-panel retrofit in North Perth, an Ajax Hub 2+ and four-camera Dahua installation in Armadale, an Ajax alarm with garage door protection and six cameras in Beeliar, and a commercial Ajax Superior retrofit in Bibra Lake. We don’t publish addresses or anything that identifies the property. See also how I choose between Superior and Baseline and why I pair Ajax with Dahua cameras.
Our Process
Tell us about your property or build it in the configurator, and we work out the entry points and weak spots with you. A wireless system can usually be quoted without a visit; wired systems and upgrades of existing alarms get a free site visit. No obligation, no hard sell.
We plan the system around your property: the right Ajax line, hub and devices. You get a clear itemised quote before anything is ordered.
I install and configure your system myself. Most residential installs take about half a day, and I test every device before I leave.
We walk you through the Ajax app, set up all users, and make sure you're completely comfortable. Ongoing local support whenever you need it.
The Honest Comparison
Many DIY alarm kits use Wi-Fi or Z-Wave radio. That's fine for smart home gadgets, but it was never built as security radio.

Common Questions
Our installed Ajax packages start from $1,280 for an apartment system, with larger home packages at $1,460 and $1,960. Extra detectors, sirens, keypads and key fobs can be added to any package at published supplied-and-installed prices, for example a door sensor at $230 or a motion detector at $190. Upgrading to the Wi-Fi Hub 2 Plus is $150 extra. Prices are for a standard Perth metro home. A wireless Ajax system can usually be quoted without a site visit; wired Superior systems and upgrades of existing alarms get a free site visit first, and other Ajax devices and commercial sites are quoted. No. Ajax works on its own, with alerts straight to your phone. If you'd rather have a person responding around the clock, it can also be connected to a professional monitoring centre. We'll talk it through at the assessment.
Yes. The alarm continues operating locally if the internet connection drops, including responding to detectors and activating a siren where configured. For app control and notifications it needs a connection: Hub 2 and Hub 2 Plus both have two SIM slots, so a SIM card with a data plan keeps you connected when the internet is down, and Hub 2 Plus can also use Wi-Fi as well as Ethernet.
Yes. With a fully wireless Ajax Baseline system, most devices unclip from their mounts and go back up at the new place. We can do the reinstall too.
Absolutely. Because the Baseline line is fully wireless and uses mounting adhesive or small screws, installation leaves minimal marks. It's one of the most landlord and tenant-friendly security systems available.
Ajax MotionProtect detectors have pet immunity, designed to ignore animals up to 20 kg and under 50 cm tall. A bigger dog, or a pet that climbs onto furniture, can still be picked up, so where each detector goes matters, and that is part of the install.
Ajax rates DoorProtect at up to 7 years and MotionProtect at up to 5 years on their pre-installed batteries. Real life depends on settings and how often a detector is triggered. The Ajax app shows every device's battery level as a percentage, so you can see which one needs changing.
The hub has a backup battery, which Ajax rates at up to 15 hours when running on a SIM card alone. The detectors run on their own batteries, so they keep working without mains power.
No system is immune to everything, but Ajax is built to resist interference and tampering. Data between the hub and devices is protected by block encryption with a dynamic key, the radio uses frequency hopping, and you are notified if the system detects jamming or loses connection with a device. The hub also raises a tamper alarm if it is removed from its mount.
Yes. The administrator can invite other users and set each person's rights. Hub 2 supports up to 50 users and Hub 2 Plus up to 200. On a recent Armadale job, the client and relatives all have the Ajax app on their phones.
Yes. Ajax supports its own cameras and integrates with Dahua and Hikvision cameras and recorders, as well as other cameras that support RTSP, so cameras can sit alongside the alarm in the same app.
Not for the alarm itself: the Ajax app has no subscription. A monitoring centre, if you choose one, charges its own monthly fee. If the hub uses a SIM card as a backup connection, that SIM needs its own data plan.
Not from Ajax directly. Ajax has no shop of its own in Australia and supplies the market through trade distributors, who sell to accredited installers and the security trade rather than to the public. The distributors require a trade account, general electronics retailers do not carry the brand, and a small number of specialist security retailers interstate sell some Ajax hardware online. For a working system rather than a box of parts, you buy it from an Ajax authorised installer. Dextel is an Ajax authorised installer in Perth, certified for both the Superior and Baseline lines, and supplies and installs at published prices.
The Superior line, no. Adding Superior equipment to a system requires an installer holding current Superior accreditation from Ajax, so owning the device is not enough to commission it. The Baseline line is wireless and designed to go in cleanly, but the hardware is only part of it: where each detector goes, how the zones and sensitivities are set and how the hub is commissioned are what decide whether the alarm catches an intruder or cries wolf, and a self-installed system leaves the warranty claim with you.
Workmanship on anything I supply and install is warranted for as long as that item's own manufacturer warranty runs, never under 12 months and never over 5 years, and equipment I supply and install carries a 12-month on-site service warranty. After the 12 months, whatever is left of the manufacturer warranty is passed on to you, and you contact me rather than the manufacturer: I assess it and make the claim with the supplier on your behalf. Flat batteries, tampering and faults in equipment someone else supplied sit outside it, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply on top.
Ajax rates the hub radio at up to 2,000 m in open space. In a real building, walls and materials cut that down. Where a device is out of range, a ReX 2 range extender relays the signal; properties that need one are quoted.
A typical 3x2 or 4x2 takes three to four MotionProtect detectors as a bare minimum. They go in the common areas rather than the bedrooms: the living and dining area, the entry hallway, the rear hallway, the laundry entry and the garage. Someone who breaks into a house does not sit in one room, they move through it, so detectors sitting on the routes they have to walk will pick them up wherever they came in. On top of that I put a DoorProtect on the main entry door, the alfresco door and the laundry door, which is perimeter protection. Full perimeter protection is all of that plus a DoorProtect on every window in the house. You do not have to do all of it at once. A smaller system that covers the main entry and the living area is a real system, and detectors can be added to the same hub later as the budget allows.
Yes, if you fit MotionCam detectors in place of the standard ones. A MotionCam is a motion detector with a camera built into it: when it triggers it takes a short series of photos and sends them to your phone along with the alarm, so you can see whether it is a person or the dog before you decide what to do about it. Ajax rates the first photo at nine seconds. A MotionCam goes anywhere a MotionProtect would, and it is priced in the device list on this page.
