This job came through word of mouth. The owner of a Bibra Lake business wanted an Ajax alarm and CCTV after seeing an Ajax system I had installed for a friend of his, and how it works day to day.
What was already there
The premises had an old Ness alarm panel, probably around 15 years old. On the first inspection, the existing sensors were still in good condition, and so was the wiring back to the panel.
That shaped the whole job. When the sensors and cabling are sound, replacing them adds cost without adding security.
Why Ajax Superior
Ajax has two installer lines, Baseline and Superior. For a commercial property like this one I chose Superior: it is the professional-grade line, and it fits this type of property.
It also meant the existing sensors could stay. They were connected to the new system through an Ajax Superior MultiTransmitter, which lets wired detectors report to an Ajax hub.
What was installed
- Ajax Superior Hub
- Ajax Superior MultiTransmitter, keeping the existing sensors and wiring
- New Superior motion detectors and door switches
- An internal siren and an external siren
- A keypad
CCTV: seven Dahua TiOC 3 Pro cameras
The same job included a seven-camera Dahua TiOC 3 Pro system. The cameras protect the perimeter, as well as the inside of the workshop and the reception area.
- 7 × Dahua TiOC 3 Pro cameras
- 8-channel NVR
- 12RU data cabinet
- Dahua monitor
For why the TiOC 3 Pro is my pick after dark, see the best CCTV camera for night vision. The full range is on the Dahua cameras and recorders page.
The result
A happy client with a modern alarm, for less than it would have cost to replace every sensor and cable in the building, and camera coverage of the perimeter, workshop and reception.
A similar commercial retrofit, at an automotive workshop with eight cameras including a 180 degree dual-lens: the Cockburn Central workshop.
A different Bibra Lake job: four Dahua 6MP cameras and an Ajax Hub 2 alarm for a newly opened mechanical workshop.
Running an old wired alarm?
If your business still has an older wired panel, the sensors and cabling may well be worth keeping. I look over what is there on the day and give you a straight answer on whether reusing it is worth doing. For how it works in general, see retrofitting an old wired alarm panel to Ajax, a similar home retrofit in North Perth, or the Ajax alarm systems page.
