Ajax makes two alarm lines, Superior and Baseline. Both use the same Ajax app, so day to day they feel the same. What differs is what sits behind the app. I decide which line goes into each property, and this is how I decide.
The short version
- Baseline for homes, apartments and small offices with no usable alarm already in place. It is fully wireless, so there is nothing to run through the walls.
- Superior for commercial sites, and for any property that already has a wired alarm I can build on.
Commercial sites get Superior
A commercial site needs a higher-grade system than a house does, so for business premises I use the wired Superior line. Superior is Ajax's higher-grade range, and it takes wired and wireless devices in the same system, which suits a site where some areas are better wired and others are not worth cabling.
The Bibra Lake job is an example: an old Ness alarm panel replaced with Ajax Superior, with the existing contacts kept. Read the Bibra Lake write-up. For the whole commercial job, alarm and cameras, see business alarm and CCTV.
Old wired systems get Superior too
A lot of my jobs are replacing an existing wired alarm. Often it is the panel that has failed or become obsolete, while the cabling and the detectors in the walls are still doing their job. With Superior and an Ajax MultiTransmitter, the existing wired detectors connect to the new Ajax hub instead of the old panel. The MultiTransmitter has 18 wired zone inputs and talks to the hub over the same radio link as the wireless detectors.
The cabling stays where it is, you get the Ajax app and notifications, and nothing is cut out of your walls. The details are in retrofitting an old alarm panel to Ajax.
Homes get Baseline
If a home has no usable alarm, Baseline is the straightforward choice. It is fully wireless, the installation is quick and clean, and it suits homes, apartments, rentals and small offices. It is also the line behind the published packages on the Ajax alarm systems page.
You do not have to choose
You do not need to know which line you want before you call. Tell me what the property is and what, if anything, is already installed, and I will tell you which line fits. If you would like to see what a system includes first, build one in the Ajax configurator and send it to me to quote.
